If you use a Block Ice Shaver and you are out of block ice, then well, you are out of business! Don't worry though because this will not happen to you when you freeze your own! Freezing your own will allow you to keep several hundred pounds of blocks in the freezer for those really busy days.

It’s important to have the correct size bag. Use bags #1488. Always try to "pull" the bag a little to eliminate the wrinkles as much as possible. The ice will need to be removed from the freezer and allowed to "temper" a little before you can remove the Poly Bag.
If you are freezing your own block ice for the # 1087 Olde New Orleans Block Ice Shaver, it is recommended that you use the #1488 bags or your freezing ability will be severely limited by the number of acutal molds you own. Additionally freeze the blocks slowly at about 10 degrees above zero. Trying to force the freezing process by using extremely cold temperatures will only create lower quality ice blocks with internal flaws, that will shatter as soon as you start to shave them.
